Are you looking for a challenging job in a dynamic setting? Do you want to further enhance your teaching skills whilst extending your University of Amsterdam (UvA) network? The program group Brain and Cognition (Psychology) of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences  is looking for multiple part-time lecturers.

We are specifically looking for lecturers within the broader field of Brain and Cognition for our Bachelor Programmes (“Brain and Cognition” and “Clinical Neuropsychology (Dutch)”) as well as our Master Programmes “Brain and Cognition in Society” and “Clinical Neuropsychology (Dutch)”.

What are you going to do?

We offer part-time lecturing positions for courses which have already been developed and for supervising students during their bachelor and master thesis projects. The bachelor and master thesis topics needs to be a fit with teaching program and are preferably within your own research area.

You will be:

  • designing Masters thesis and Bachelors thesis projects;
  • supervising students for their Bachelor and Master projects and internships;
  • co-coordinating existing courses (i.e., communicating with the students, ensuring the CANVAS course pages are up to date);
  • grading thesis, course assignments and exams;
  • giving lectures fitting your specific profile (optional).

What do we require of you?

Your experience and profile:

  • having obtained a PhD is needed and being qualified with a BKO (or international equivalent) is preferred.
  • some teaching experience which can preferably be proven through positive student evaluations.
  • your background can be diverse as we are looking for:
    • lecturers for Brain and Cognition in Society; experience within (non)profit organizations where you applied Brain and Cognition knowledge [or a network within applied cognitive neuroscience, including connections with businesses] is needed.
    • lecturers with a background in programming experiments (like Java, MatLab, Python),experience with Neurotask and JASP.
    • lecturers with experience within the field of cognitive neuroscience.
    • lecturers with experience within the field of clinical neuropsychology; clinical experience is preferred.

Our offer

We offer a part-time contract for 1.0 year up to 1.5 years. Preferred starting date is half August 2021, but later options can be discussed. This will be a temporary contract for a fixed term.

The gross monthly salary based on full-time employment (38 hours per week) ranges from €2,790 up to a maximum of €5,127 (salary scale 10/11). This is exclusive 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus. The starting salary will be based on qualifications, expertise and relevant experience. The profile Teacher 3 or 4 is applicable in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities.
