Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Neuropsychology
Application Deadline: January 3, 2022
Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) in Houston, Texas, is recruiting 2 full time residents for the 2022 – 2024 training term. We are an APA specialty accredited neuropsychology residency and APPCN member program with a focus on providing high quality training that will prepare graduates for successful transition to independent practice as a clinical neuropsychologist and attainment of board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology through ABPP. We adhere to a scientist-practitioner model and our residents have a strong publication track-record. The training at MEDVAMC occurs in a supportive environment and we base our success as a program on residents achieving their intermediate and long-term goals. Residents will get experience providing neuropsychological services to veterans with a broad range of psychiatric and neurologic conditions, including dementia, TBI/polytrauma, epilepsy, stroke, and movement disorders. In addition to weekly didactics, an intensive clinical neuroscience course is offered through Baylor College of Medicine. In addition to formal clinical and research activities, participation in program development opportunities and interdisciplinary consultation are important aspects of this residency.
We offer a competitive salary ($53,275 first year, $56,154 second year) and a comprehensive benefits package including 13 days of paid annual leave per year, 13 days of paid sick leave per year, 10 federal holidays per year, affordable medical insurance and dental insurance, and up to 7 days of authorized absence for professional conferences and approved educational activities annually. Please see the attachment or visit our website for more information (https://www.va.gov/houston-health-care/work-with-us/internships-and-fellowships/psychology-internship-and-postdoctoral-residency).
